JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police narcotics division confirmed Friday a crystal methamphetamine factory they raided earlier this week in West Jakarta was run by a newly established intercity drug syndicate.

"It prepared the raw material in Jakarta and processed it in Bandung, West Java," division chief Sr. Comr. Anjan Pramuka Putra said.

"The syndicate has the ability to produce between 2 and 3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in 10 days."

The syndicate's equipment was worth around Rp 5 billion (US$530,000)

It was believed to have operated for six months and was masterminded by Iwan Jaja Admaja, a former convict. Jaja was previously sentenced to seven years in prison for dealing crystal methamphetamine. - JP
