JAKARTA: Governor Fauzi Bowo was upbeat the 2009 city budget spending would reach 90 percent by the end of this year.
"The administration remains optimistic," Fauzi said during a plenary session at the City Council. Fauzi said budget spending as of September 2009, which reached 44.7 percent, was below its expected rate.
But in October, he claimed, the spending had reached 48.43 percent.
"In 2007 and 2008, the absorption in November and December reached 57.76 percent and 84.66 percent on average *respectively*," he said.
He predicted the 2009 budget surplus would reach Rp 2 trillion. - JP
