A government-sanctioned fact-finding team has begun a session to reconstruct criminal cases that have implicated two Corruption Eradication Commission leaders at the Presidential Advisory Council office in Central Jakarta on Saturday evening.

“This evening, we have an investigation team from the police to present the case. We have also [officials] from the Attorney General's Office (AGO), “ Adnan Buyung Nasution, the team leader, told journalists as he opened the gathering at around 7:30 p.m.

National Police top detectives will present results of their investigation into alleged bribery and extortion implicating suspended KPK deputy chiefs Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto before the government-sanctioned fact-finding team.

Leaders of the KPK will also attend the gathering.

The National Police’s director of anticorruption unit Brig, Gen. Yovianes Mahar, his deputy Sr. Comr. Benny Mokalu will represent the police during the much-awaited meeting.

Adnan said that the team would observe and analyze the police's presentation, but it would not intervene with the investigation result.

“We are expecting to see facts and we will not intervene, change or add anything into the investigation, because it will be used in the court,” he said.

The gathering was a closed session, but the team plans to hold press conference after the gathering.

During the meeting, the detectives will build the case involving the suspended KPK leaders based on facts and data they have collected since they launched the investigation.

National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri has insisted that the investigators have gathered enough evidence to charge Chandra and Hamzah. The two suspects, however, have persistently denied the accusations.
