National Police Headquarters have sent a team to Surabaya to locate key witnesses Yulianto who a middleman said had helped him hand over bribe money to two Corruption Eradication Commission deputy chiefs.

“The search is being conducted by the National Police team. We only provide assistance,” spokesperson for the East Java police Sr. Comr. Pudji Astuti told Antara on Saturday.

The middleman, Ari Muladi, told a government-sponsored fact finding team earlier in the day that he asked Yulianto to give Rp 5.1 billion in bribes to KPK officials, including Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto, from businessman Anggodo Widjojo. Ari said he sought Yulianto’s help as he claimed to know the KPK leaders well.

Yulianto has disappeared since Ari was questioned in connection with the bribery case in July.

Ari described Yulianto as a well-built man who is about between 175 and 180 centimeters tall. Ari said he made acquaintance with Yulianto in Surabaya.
