TANGERANG: The Tangerang office of the Indonesian Labor Union Alliance Congress (Kasbi) rejected the Tangerang municipality wage board's decision, which decided Rp 1,170,000 was the minimum cost of living in the municipality in 2010.
The rejection came from Kasbi along with other labor unions in the municipality as the newly ruled minimum cost of living will determine the provincial minimum wage increase next year.
Kasbi chairman Koswara said his union had proposed Rp 1,650,000 as the cost of living.
"It's no secret the minimum wage increase does not exceed the proposed minimum living cost," he said. The current minimum wage is Rp 975,500.
"We still have 15 more days to protest," he said.
The wage increase proposal will be signed by the Banten governor on Nov. 20 at the latest. - JP
