Mukomuko Regent Ichwan Yunus looks desperate in his attempt to discipline civil servants working for his administration that he has decided to follow the way ruthless teachers expose their naughty students under the sun’s heat.
Ichwan has said he will ask civil servants caught hanging out during work hours to sweat it out under the hot sun and take their pictures for publication, kompas.com reported.
“I have told public order officers to capture civil servants who leave the office without their supervisor’s consent. They should serve the public and get paid for their work,” Ichwan was quoted by regional administration spokesman Yanzuri Nawawi on Saturday.
Yanzuri said the regent had been upset by reports that many civil servants skipped office during work hours, some of them returned home for private matters.
Ichwan asked the public order officers to regularly conduct raids in supermarkets, food stalls and restaurants across the Bengkulu regency to find the lazy government employees.
“The naughty civil servants will not only have to stand under the scorching sun, but their pictures will be published in local newspapers,” Yanzuri quoted the regent.
