The teddy bear, the iconic stuffed animal that no one loves to hate, is ready to leave visitors to Singapore feeling all wrapped up and cozy this November.
Occupying the Blue Room and Living Room of the Arts House on Nov. 8, is The Singapore Teddy Bear Show, which was created by artists at Moob International two years ago and has since grown into an event of lively interest in the local soft sculpture art scene.
The free-admission show is a showcase of fascinating designs and innovative new methods that international artists apply to the art of making "bear softies". Taking on the theme "Bear Traditions Unveiled", this year's show reveals how a traditional art form can be created into something new and contemporary.
Highlights from the program include a softie-making workshop, display of the Steiff Teddy Jewels series (Swarovski crystal stone and ornament to accessorize your bear with), and artists putting up their works for sale to help disadvantaged children get a fair shot at life through art education.
If a day of teddy bearbrowsing seems too brief for you, fear not for another Teddy Bear Exhibition is coming to Singapore between Nov. 21 and 30.
The Mint Museum of Toys on Seah Street invites all teddy bear enthusiasts to come see its collection of vintage Steiff, Schuco, Merrythought, Chad Valley and Sue Pearson's collections, these alongside six unique masterpieces specially designed and created by local award-winning teddy bear artists.
