A number of community leaders urged the South Tangerang municipal administration to focus on facilitating the establishment of the municipal legislative council.
Rasyud Syakir, an NGO activist, said the council was necessary for the region’s development.
“The mayoral election can not be held next year if the council does not exist.”
The council’s formation remains unclear due to pending regulations to be issued by the General Elections Commission.
“People hope the council can be formed this year because there are still many urgent problems that the administration must face,” said Badrussalam, a Tangerang rengency elections commission member.
