Attorney General Hendarman Supandji called on House of Representatives legislators to help him reform the prosecutor’s office, the reputation of which has been severely tarnished by corruption scandals.

"It is not an easy thing to reform the Attorney General’s Office. I am aware of the existence of case brokers, extortion scandals, and so forth. I am really concerned about it honestly. However, I need help. I am not only reforming 10 people but 20,000 people in the institution," he told a hearing with the House’s Commission III on legal affairs on Tuesday.

Hendarman said he never expected to become an attorney general.

"But God disposed that I become one," he said.

Hendarman also complained about his job, sayng it stressed him so much he did not have enough time for himself or his family.

"I work 15 hours per day. I don't have time to go to malls, or hang out. Why would I want this job if not for my wish to serve the nation?" he said.
