Jakarta: The Indonesian under-19 soccer team was humiliated 7-0 by the visiting Japanese team in an Asian Cup qualifier at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, West Java, on Monday.

The Indonesia squad, which was trained in Uruguay, was dominated throughout much of the game by the Japanese, conceding a goal almost every 10 minutes.

The defeat narrowed Indonesia's chances of advancing to the next round, as the squad still has to face tough competition in the group stage from the likes of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia.

Japan took the lead in the first half with goals from Takagi Toshoyuki in the third minute, Kato Masaru in the fourth minute and Nagai Ryo in the 10 minute.

The goals came fast and furious in the second half, with claiming a brace and completing his hat trick with goals in the 52nd and 56th minutes, as well as a goal from defender Takahashi Shohei at the 54-minute mark, and a second goal from Ryo in the 70th minute. -JP
