Gas station closure contributes to green space

JAKARTA: Central Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Agency head Suzy Masitawati said Tuesday her office expected to add another 10,505 square meters of green space thanks to the closure of several gas stations.

Among the gas stations to be converted to green space are those on Jl. Abdul Muis, Tanah Abang, Jl. Sumenep, Menteng, two gas stations in Kwitang, Senen and Jl. Kramat Raya.

This year, the agency secured 260 hectares for open and green space.

"Despite this latest contribution, we're still short of our target *to secure areas for open and green space*," Suzy said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

The 4,790-hectare municipality is targeting to have 1,437 hectares of open and green space. -JP
