Letter: Reform police and AGO!

I agree with Ifa, who wrote a letter titled "Collapse of the judicial system" (The Jakarta Post, Nov. 6). Our country has worsened in terms of the legal system, and due to how law enforcers, police and Attorney General's Office (AGO) badly treat their own citizens and the foreigners living here.
The arrogance of the police and the AGO is out of hand. The clearly fabricated case against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is further weakened by how they send innocent people to jail and shoot people randomly as if they were shooting animals in the bush.
Our judicial system has become nonexistent thanks to police and AGO manipulations. The cry of injustice sounds in every corner. We are sorry for those who are in the jail with fabricated accusations.
If KPK deputy leaders Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto had no one to speak for them; if the people did not react; if they did not occupy such an important position, then no one could have known them and no one would ever have known that they were not guilty.
How many more people are in jail, suffering for what they did not do? Our land was shaken by the god of justice with earthquakes because of the cries of many innocents in jail, as well as those outside jail in pain and in search of justice, which has constantly been denied to them through forceful prosecution, fabricated cases and irrelevant evidence.
It is time to join hands together to bring sanctity to our country. The police force and the AGO must be reformed and the current police and AGO chiefs and others involved in the record should be removed to allow independent teams to investigate them.
The police should be removed from the presidency, like in every other democratic country, and placed under the responsibility of the Home Ministry. Why should we be confused in doing what is right?
Enough is enough and the truth can't be hidden through intimidation, but the truth will surely prevail.
