A government-sanctioned fact-finding team investigating an alleged plot to frame Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders will submit its final recommendation to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday, a team member says.
"Our final recommendation will also include advice to the President to fully reform the National Police, the Attorney Generals' Office [AGO] and the KPK," Todung Mulya Lubis said Friday.
Previously, the team concluded the police had no solid evidence to charge two KPK deputy chairmen, Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Riyanto, in a bribery case and should therefore drop the case.
The police and the AGO, however, insist they have solid evidence.
Todung also said it was advisable for the President to follow up the team's recommendation with concrete actions.
In response to the team’s interim recommendation, Yudhoyono said he would mandate the police and the AGO to take follow-up actions, rather than taking measures himself.
