US President Barack Obama said on Sunday that he planned to visit Indonesia next year and bring along with him his wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha Obama.
"I want to make sure that everybody knows that I intend to be visiting Indonesia next year," Obama told reporters after meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Singapore on Sunday.
"I'm hoping to be able to take Michelle and the girls as well so that they can take a look at some of my old haunting grounds," he said to the laughter of the audience.
In response, Yudhoyono said that he looked forward to welcoming President Obama to Indonesia next year. "He will be warmly welcomed by the Indonesian people."
He described Obama as "a friend of Indonesia. He knows Indonesia very well, and he is well respected in Indonesia."
