Indonesia has returned home empty-handed after its only hope — mixed double shuttlers Nova Widiyanto and Liliyana Natsir — surrendered to Polands Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk during a final battle at the Hong Kong Super Series on Sunday.

Nova and Liliyana were defeated by their rivals in two sets, 20-22 and 16-21.

After the game, Liliyana told tempointeraktif.com the Polish pair had been playing very well and that she and Nova were not able to develop their game.

“They played so fast and applied such good strategy in attacking us. They destroyed our defense easily,” Lilyana said.

In other divisions, most Indonesian players such as Simon Santosa, Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan and Fran Kurniawan/Pia Zebadiah Bernadet, lost to their respective opponents. (ewd)
