The Attorney General's Office (AGO) on Monday returned to the National
Police the dossier of alleged criminal cases involving suspended deputy
chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bibit Samad
Rianto, citing incomplete evidence.
Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes Marwan Effendy said that the police should add more testimonies from KPK's official Ade Rahardja.
“Besides, the police have yet to complete its evidence with official letters from court. They have to syncronize the evidence with testimonies from some witnesses,” Marwan told tempointeraktif.com.
He added that the AGO was still examining the dossier of another suspect and deputy chief Chandra M. Hamzah.
“We just received the dossier of Chandra's case on Thursday. We have yet to decide on whether or not we'll return or accept it,” he said.
The AGO has returned the dossier of Chandra's case twice due to incomplete proof. The police have declared both Bibit and Chandra as suspects for they have allegedly misused their power in imposing and lifting travel bans on graft suspect Anggoro Widjojo and businessman Joko Tjandra.
The police have also accused Bibit and Chandra of having received Rp 2.5 billion (US$ 250,000) from Anggoro so that the anti-graft body may halt its investigation into a graft case at the Forestry Ministry that involves Anggoro. (ewd)
