Golkar wants settlement of Bank Century scandal

JAKARTA: The Golkar Party has thrown its weight behind the House's political move against the government over a controversial bailout granted to Bank Century, the Golkar party leader says.

Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie said Saturday the party sought clarity over the Rp 6.7 trillion bailout, as it could otherwise spark public suspicion particularly towards SBY and Vice President Boediono.

"Golkar very much expects settlement and clarity concerning the Century case, because as a party that supports the government we want the President and Vice President to win full support from the people so that they can run the government effectively," he said after opening a Golkar regional conference in Makassar. - JP
