JAKARTA: The government has launched a one-door service program to cut the high-cost economy and ensure certainty for investors.
"With the one-stop service, investors will no longer need to come to offices or institutions to get permits needed to run their business. They would only need to come to one place," Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi said over the weekend.
"Of course, we will not forget the control function of permits. Therefore, the faster procedure in issuing permits does not mean the investors can do what they want freely."
Gamawan also launched other documents as national guidelines in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the one-stop service program.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the establishment of the one-stop service was a form of bureaucratic reform in local administrations and it could directly benefit the local people who wanted to run small-scale enterprises.
"It could be a "quick win" as local people could directly benefit from the implementation of the one-stop service," said Bey Arifianto of , a staff member at KPK's research and development unit. - JP
