JAKARTA: An 11-year-old boy accused of attacking and killing his foster mother in Ciracas, East Jakarta, last month, could face 15 years of imprisonment, a police spokeswoman said.
"He is charged with an article in the *2004* law on the eradication of domestic violence, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in jail," East Jakarta police's women and children protection unit chief Adj. Comr. Grace Haruanja said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Grace refused to elaborate on the police's decision to charge Anton under the article in the law.
Anton had admitted to killing his foster mother, Etty Rochyati, with a wooden plank, a hammer and a knife, because he felt badly treated.
Anton, who was born in Nias, North Sumatra, was adopted by a family in Medan, North Sumatra, after the 2004 tsunami claimed the life of his father.
He was then reportedly brought by another family to Jakarta. - JP
