Unknown gunmen attacked the residence of head of Banda Aceh's European House Office John Penny in Keutapang in Aceh Besar regency in Aceh. No one was injured in the incident.

News portal www.kompas.com reported that the shootings took place at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday at the house located in Jl. Mata Ie, Lorong Iklas. A number of police officers have been deployed to guard the house and to examine the crime scene.

One of the police officers, who refused to be named, said they predicted that there were two perpetrators.

The authorities and the  European House Office have yet to make an official statement about the incident.

The incident was the second one this month targeted at foreigners in Aceh after the shooting of a Red Cross employee in Aceh on Nov. 5.

Bernhard Bauer, 50, head of the German Red Cross's Aceh representative office, was shot by two motorbike riders as he was driving on a road in Lampeunurut, Banda Aceh, in a car with three other Red Cross employees.

The Nangroe Aceh Darussalam provincial administration had guaranteed the safety of foreign workers, especially those currently employed in humanitarian work, following the incident.
