An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit West Java on Wednesday morning. There was no immediate report of injuries or damages.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency reported in its website that the quake struck at 9:17 a.m. and its epicenter was located at 214 kilometers southwest of Tasikmalaya at 66 kilometers beneath the surface.
Early in September, a 7.3-magnitude quake, centered off the coast of the West Java town of Tasikmalaya, hit 14 towns and regencies in West Java, killing 73 people and wounding more than 900 others.
Around 64,000 houses were severely damaged and at least 141,000 others moderately damaged. More than 1,100 schools and 230 administrative buildings were also damaged in September's quake.
