The Golkar Party faction at the House of Representatives says that it will determine its final stance on the proposal for the formation an inquiry committee in Bank Century debacle today.

"Basically, we are still waiting for the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to finish its financial audit on the Bank Century debacle," Golkar faction Chairman Setya Novanto told reporters at the House in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The Bank Century debacle revolves around a controversial bail out, worth Rp 6.7 trillion (US$ 716.9 million), which was a lot higher than an agreed amount of Rp 632 billion .

The inquiry proposal will also be discussed in the House consultative committee on Thursday, when House factions will announce their final stance whether to endorse the committee in a plenary session or not.

As of Tuesday, as many as 48 Golkar legislators had signed the petition requesting the committee to be established.

Setya said that he was not one of them.
