Indonesia’s bid to reach the Asian Cup finals in 2011 hit a further snag on Wednesday following a 1-1 draw with Kuwait in their match at the Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.

The draw earned Indonesia only three points after four matches to remain at the bottom of the group, with two difficult matches left to play.

Indonesia has to beat Oman at home on Jan. 6, 2010 and group leader Australia away on March 3 to keep its hopes alive. Only the top two team of each group qualify for the finals.

Striker Budi Sudarsono gave an attack-minded Indonesia a first half lead with his goal in the injury time, but a foul committed by defender Ismed Sofian reduced the host team to 10 players almost throughout the second half.

Taking advantage of their superior number of players, the visitors piled on pressures to dominate the game. Their efforts paid dividends when Ahmad Ajeb scored an equalizer in the 72nd minute.

Kuwait beat Indonesia 2-1 in their previous match last week.
