Police collect evidence against Anggodo

The National Police say they are gathering evidence to charge businessman Anggodo Widjojo on multiple counts ranging from bribery to defamation of the President.

The police’s Sr. Comr. Raja Erizman said Wednesday that Anggodo could be charged with contempt of individuals, institutions and public officials, as well as libel, bribery and the attempted murder of suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chairman Chandra M. Hamzah.

He added police had not named Anggodo a suspect.

In a tape recording played back at the Constitutional Court earlier this month, Anggodo was heard apparently conspiring with high-ranking police and prosecutors to frame KPK deputies Chandra and Bibit Samad Rianto for bribery, blackmail and abuse of power.

Raja said police had completed a report on Anggodo and would start questioning the people named in the tape recording.

“We submitted a letter to the KPK on November 13 to ask for the tape recording, but have received no response,” he said.

A presidential fact-finding team recommended an investigation into Anggodo, and also called for the case against Chandra and Bibit to be dropped.
