JAKARTA: An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 hit West Java on Wednesday morning but there was no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported on its website that the quake struck at 9:17 a.m. and its epicenter was located 214 kilometers southwest of Tasikmalaya at 66 kilometers beneath the surface.
Early in September, a 7.3-magnitude quake, centered off the coast of the West Java town of Tasikmalaya, hit 14 towns and regencies in West Java, killing 73 people and wounding more than 900 others. - JP
