JAKARTA: The Golkar Party at the House of Representatives says it will determine its final stance on the proposal for the formation of an Bank Century inquiry committee today.
"Basically, we are still waiting for the Supreme Audit Agency *BPK* to finish its financial audit on the Bank Century debacle," Golkar faction chairman Setya Novanto said.
The Bank Century issue revolves around a controversial bailout, worth Rp 6.7 trillion (US$ 716.9 million), which was considerably higher than the agreed amount of Rp 632 billion.
The inquiry proposal will be discussed in the House consultative committee Thursday, when House factions will announce their final stance on whether to endorse the committee in a plenary session.
As of Tuesday, 48 Golkar legislators had signed the petition. - JP
