National Police investigators have summoned officials from the Kompas daily for questioning in connection with tape recordings of an alleged plot involving businessman Anggodo Widjojo to frame Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders.
The summons, dated Nov. 18 and signed by the director for economic and special crimes, Sr. Comr. Raja Erizman, called on Kompas to face questioning Friday.
“We have been asked to explain the transcript of the wiretapped conversations between Anggodo and others that were played during a Constitutional Court hearing Nov. 3,” Kompas managing editor Budiman Tanuredja said Thursday. He added he would represent Kompas in the questioning.
Kompas, like other print media, published the transcript on Nov. 4.
The four-hour-long recordings hinted at an alleged incrimination plot orchestrated by “court mafia”.
The police are gathering evidence to charge Anggodo with defamation, slander and libel against the police, bribery and threatening others. The police, however, have not declared Anggodo a suspect. (JP)
