Former vice president Jusuf Kalla said Thursday he believed President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono could solve any problem in the country because it was his duty and responsibility to do so.

Kalla said he was sure the President could settle issues currently facing the country such as the conflict between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the police and the Attorney General’s Office, the alleged conspiracy to implicate two suspended KPK deputies, and the controversial Bank Century bailout.

“Solutions are forthcoming provided all parties work together,” he told reporters at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar upon returning from a European trip.

Kalla had traveled abroad for a family holiday on his private jet soon after being succeeded as vice president by Boediono. He said he had not communicated with the President since the President’s inauguration.
