Strong winds destroy houses in E. Nusa Tenggara

KUPANG: Strong winds caused major damage to 11 houses in Ndao Nuse village, Rote Ndao regency, on Wednesday, forcing 52 people to seek temporary shelter elsewhere.

Rote Ndao Deputy Regent Marthen Luther Saek said Wednesday no one was injured in the incident.

"We've handed out rice and tarpaulins, and deployed a medical team to help those in need," Marthen told The Jakarta Post.

He added his administration would begin preparations to repair the damaged homes.- JP
