`Trigger happy' cops grilled over gambler's death

EPOK: The Jakarta Police inter-nal affairs division is questioning seven Depok Police officers for alleged excessive use of force in the death by shooting of a public minivan driver.

"We will check their statements with facts *from the crime scene*, including evaluating their decision to use firearms," police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said.

Depok Police officers on Tuesday raided a house in Limo, Depok, arresting several minivan drivers for allegedly gambling on the premises. During the raid, one of the officers shot Subagyo for "trying to escape". Subagyo died en route to the hospital.

The victim's friends who witnessed the incident said the shooting was unwarranted as the raided house had only one exit, which the police had already secured. - JP
