KUTA: The customs office at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, has confiscated 130 smuggled cell phones from its cargo terminal.

The phones, packaged in two cardboard boxes, arrived from Hong Kong via a freight forwarding company, but they were not listed in the cargo's manifest.

"The packages were addressed to two fake consignees named Jack Nicholas and Richard Moore at Kuta Paradiso Hotel Bali," Bagus Endro Wibowo, customs office investigation division chief, said Wednesday.

The illicit goods, worth around Rp 607 million (US$64,750), comprised of 120 BlackBerry smartphones and 10 cell phones made in China.

Bagus said the customs office was still investigating the case. - JP
