Disgraced prosecutor may return to post

JAKARTA: Disgraced former deputy attorney general Abdul Hakim Ritonga could potentially return to his post following his brief resignation, which was triggered by his allegations of his involvement in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) scandal.

"There is always a possibility for him to return to office. His resignation letter is still on my desk and no official follow-up has been made," Attorney General Hendarman Supandji told reporters after a hearing at the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Ritonga resigned earlier this month after a controversial tape recording was played in a public hearing at the Constitutional Court.

The tape hinted at a possible conspiracy between him and a number of high-ranking officials at the National Police to frame suspended KPK deputy chairmen Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto. - JP
