Singapore for the young and wild at heart

A- A A+

Those wishing to spend some quality time with their little ones can defi nitely put Singapore on their itinerary. This fortnight, the Lion City beckons the call of the wild in a number of adventurous * not to mention educative * programs arranged for families in search of something new in the heart of the metropolis. Starting Nov. 24, the Underwater World Singapore on Sentosa Island will be spreading *shark love* to every visiting child and adult.

*Feed The Sharks* is a way of educating the public that sharks are not as scary as they seem, while at same time encouraging protection for these often misunderstood marine creatures. Parents and children will get a chance to feed juvenile sharks safely while checking out specimens of shark egg cases and jaws at the venue.

If sharks prove not to be your game, why not settle for elephants instead? Singapore Zoo is inviting students to spice up their December holidays with a day of *ele-FUN* in epic proportions.

The Elephants of Asia daily exhibit runs from Dec. 5 to 27 and has a number of fun activities from elephant grooming and pedicure to taking up the elephants on challenges involving water spraying, log balancing and coconut breaking * are you up for it?

At the same time, visitors can learn more about elephants with a Weight Guessing Contest and a series of elephant cultural dances.

For those with no soft spot whatsoever for sharks and elephants, here*s their last chance to get close to the wild: the most gregarious Asian small clawed otters at Singapore*s Night Safari!

Night Safari reckons everyone *otter* head down to the jungle between Dec. 4 and 26 for some festive fun with boisterous otters and tropical-tree light-ups. The show segments will have otters showing off and wowing the crowd with their special winter behaviors; visitors can also snap up the chance to take a photo with these adorable creatures.
