Official corruption appears to be endemic and normalised in Bali, Police on the road, especially but not exclusivly in relation to tourists, allocation of positions in the education sector based on who will pay R50juta fee, diversion of funds by upper local officials to benefit themselves and close neighbours, misappropriation of funds at the banjar level....really corruption at grass roots level is accepted as normal behaviour, its perpetrators often hiding behind the communities compulsion to "save face". This is from my experience, my observation and as told to me by friends and relations who were seeking loans to procure employment. How to deal with it? Education perhaps in the long term and prosecution of perpetrators in the short term and I mean both the payer and reciever. I often think the most appropriate personal response would be to leave the country.

My son had failed twice for his first time applying Driving license for Motorcyle(SIM C) and Ca(SIM A) in Kali Deres. As we want to go through the proper legal way of applying the licenses. Later I found out that in order to pass the license test without being failed by the officer, one has to go to a mediator, usually from a driving school. Apparently, I found out that the officer and the mediator had made a deal to pass their clients. This has to be stopped and herewith, I appeal for the Police or Corruption watch to have the license division to be accountable and fair in passing the students driving test.
