Attorney General Hendarman Supandji will propose to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono dismissal of Deputy Attorney General Abdul Hakim Ritonga, in response to the President’s request for internal reform.

"We will propose that Pak Ritonga be dismissed and decide on it later," Hendarman was quoted as saying by Antara on Tuesday.

Ritonga was said to be part of an alleged plot to frame Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies based on tape recordings heard in the Constitutional Court on Nov. 3. He then tendered his resignation for the sake of the Attorney General’s Office’s image.

Hendarman said the response to the President’s request for internal reform in his office was being formulated.

"The President’s order is quite clear,” Hendarman said.

In response to recommendations from his fact-finding team, President Yudhoyono called for an out-of-court settlement to put an end to the KPK debacle and ordered internal reform within the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police and the KPK.

Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes Marwan Effendy said his office would opt to halt the criminal inevstigation into suspended KPK deputy chiefs Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto.
