JAKARTA: The National Anti-Narcotics Board has announced that 4.1 percent of the Jakarta population used narcotics - the highest prevalence of any region in Indonesia.
The board's head of narcotics monitoring, Anang Iskandar, said five in every one hundred Jakartans used narcotics.
"We have targeted to reduce the number by 10 percent every year," Anang told reporters at City Hall on Monday.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Prijanto said his administration was currently holding a competition among 400 community units, hoping to make them narcotics-free. - JP
