Man dies defending relative, house

JAKARTA: One man died and another was injured after being stabbed while attempting to intercept two thieves at a family member's house in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Sunday night.

House owner Linda said she had heard voices outside her house and had called her parents.

"I panicked and called my parents who live nearby," said Linda, as quoted by detik.com.

Her parents brought some relatives with them to the house.

Her brother, Rudi Julkarnain, and uncle M. Yamin had found the thieves near the kitchen and tried to stop them.

"One of the thieves stabbed Rudi's groin and his uncle tried to help him," Jagakarsa Police deputy chief Adj. Cmr. Arsalam said.

M. Yamin got into a fight with one of the thieves before being stabbed in the ribs, Arsalam said.

One thief was caught and identified as Suheri, while the other remained at large. - JP
