The National Police handed over an alleged bribery case involving businessman Anggodo Widjojo to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Detective Insp. Gen. Dikdik M. Arif Mansyur said the police would facilitate the antigraft body to investigate the businessman concerning his alleged effort to bribe suspended KPK deputies Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah.

“We will allow the KPK to forcedly summon Anggodo,” Dikdik said.

Anggodo is the brother of graft suspect Anggoro Widjojo who is currently at large. Based on a recording heard at the Constitutional Court, Anggodo allegedly talked with high-profile officials at the National Police and the Attorney General's Office.  He reportedly talked about his plan to bribe Bibit and Chandra so the antigraft body might halt its investigation into an alleged corruption case at the Forestry Ministry involving his brother.

Besides accusing Anggodo with bribery, the police have suspected him of trying to libel people, including President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whose name was mentioned in the recording.

Dikdik told tempointeraktif.com the police would keep investigating into the alleged libeling.

He added the police had yet to name Anggodo as a suspect, although they had questioned eight witnesses, including Ary Muladi and an investigator also mentioned in the recording. (ewd)
