National Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said Wednesday that chief detective Comr Gen. Susno Duadji was not replaced following request from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

“Nothing [of that sort]. It's just a regular transfer,” he told journalist on the sidelines of a police event in Bogor, West Java, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Bambang turned about face and sacked the detective chief implicated in an alleged conspiracy against the antigraft body, in spite of his earlier insistence that no one was losing his job, and 25 other police officers.

Susno, along with Deputy Attorney General Abdul Hakim Ritonga, was identified in wiretapped conversations, broadcast nationwide, between a  businessman, police officers and prosecutors.

Yudhoyono on Monday was stating his views on the recommendations of his “Team 8”, tasked to investigate the case of two deputies of the  Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). They were charged with extortion, bribery and abuse of power.

The team had concluded, among others, that there were “indications of fabrication” of the case and that the officials involved in such actions should be punished.

Susno remains a police officer, though in a “non job” position.

Of course it is a regular transfer, suggesting otherwise is just a fabrication. This is the standard promotion for officers in the service with much knowledge of others in and outside the service. Soon the good Comr Gen will recieve an extra star for not straying.
