The East Java Police have arrested a man for distributing counterfeit money in some regencies in East Java, Antara reported on Thursday.

The man, identified as Sup, 29, was arrested at his rented house in Situbondo, East Java, where the police also found fake money worth Rp 350 million in Rp 100,000 notes.

The police started looking for the suspect following a complaint from a tobacco farmer who sold tobacco to Sup, who paid him with Rp 15.2 million using counterfeit notes.

"Based on our two-month investigation, we eventually arrested Sup who acted as the distributor," Adj. Sr. Comr. Anom Wibowo from East Java Police told Antara news agency.

Anom said the police were still hunting one more suspect, identified only as SN.
