City tells nightclubs to close on Idul Adha

JAKARTA: The city administration has banned night clubs from opening on Thursday and Friday in observance of the Islamic Day of Sacrifice or Idul Adha.

City Tourism Agency head Arie Budhiman was quoted by beritajakarta.com as saying that his agency had instructed nightclub owners to stop their operations for two days, adding that the agency would impose sanctions to those breaching the instruction.

Discotheques, spa centers, massage parlors, arcades and bars have also been instructed to close for the national holiday.

There are 1,129 businesses that would be affected by the policy.

Karaoke halls and live music houses can open for five hours between 8:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. - JP
