SMS: Reflection of haj pilgrimage

A- A A+

Your opinion on what Muslims should learn from performing haj pilgrimage in Mecca and sacrificing livestock during the Idul Adha holiday.

When people perform haj in Mecca, they wear the same white clothes, like those that will be worn when they die.

It reflects that before God, human beings are the same.

They believe in the existence of life after death. What make them different then is what they have done while they are still alive on this earth.

Sacrificing livestock can be interpreted to mean there is no eternity in this world and therefore we should be pleased to let our most worthy things go for the interests of other people, particularly the needy.

One of the important things to learn from these teachings is that people should help each other based on their respected capacity.

The government, for example, has to serve the people, while the people have to follow the existing regulations.

The haj, which means to gather at the Arafat valley at a certain time, and the sacrifice of livestock everywhere in the world, are rituals based on the principles and belief in Islam.

It is quite simple for Muslims to reflect on the teachings of Islam in daily life.

To live guided by God means doing all that is ordered by the Koran and refrain from acts and attitudes prohibited by the Holy Book.
