One dead, another missing as flood hits districts in West Java

A local resident died Friday while another is missing after floods hit several districts in Pandeglang regency, West Java.

Sukaresmi district chief Suaedi said that the fatality was from his district, while the missing victim was from Pegelaran.

At least 5,000 homes and 6,000 hectares of rice fields were inundated by floods that hit nine districts, Panimbang, Patia, Pegelaran, Sukaresmi, Perdana, Munjul, Cikeusik, Angsana and Picung beginning Tuesday.

Hundreds of residents have taken refugee to drier ground, while others insist on staying at home.

The flood is the biggest to have hit the regency this year.
