JAKARTA: Deputy Governor Prijanto said Thursday administration officials could support efforts to counter terrorism by eliminating poverty.
"My understanding is that terrorist networks easily enter conflict areas. So we should reduce conflict. If people have problems, they should settle them, not aggravate them by being provocateurs," Prijanto said after attending a counterterrorism workshop at City Hall in Central Jakarta.
Prijanto added that poverty was a common cause of conflict, therefore, eliminating poverty was an alternative method to eradicating terrorism.
