A fire razed a woodworking factory in Serang, Banten, on Sunday afternoon, but no casualties or injuries were reported.

Antara state news agency reported the fire destroyed hundreds of cubic meters of wood, a car and a wood chopping machine.

Neither the factory owner nor workers were injured since they were still on vacation celebrating the Idul Adha holiday.

Eeng, a security guard at the factory who witnessed the blaze, said he first saw the fire at 12:25 p.m.

“I called neighbors and there were only two people trying to put out the fire with whatever was available,” Eeng said.

The Serang Fire Department was eventually able to extinguish the fire after deploying six fire engines.

“We have yet to identify the cause of the fire,” a Serang Police officer said. (ewd)
