The People’s Conscience (Hanura) Party opens wide its door for former Golkar Party chief advisor Surya Paloh if he is to change allegiance.
Hanura Party chairman Wiranto said Tuesday there had been no official talk between party leaders and Surya concerning his move.
“We are open to anyone who wants to join or to quit the party,” Wiranto told Antara after receiving initiators of the House of Representatives’ inquiry into the Bank Century bailout scandal.
Media magnate Surya, disappointed with his defeat to Aburizal Bakrie in the race for Golkar chief post early last month, has been linked to a move to Hanura or the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party. Surya is expected to meet Gerindra chief patron, Prabowo Subianto, in the near future.
Political expert Jefrie Geovani said Surya would announce his move to Hanura in the near future. Surya may also contest the election for the party’s chief post in February 2010.
