The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) grilled Ari Muladi, alleged middleman in the fabrication of a bribery case against two KPK leaders, in an attempt to develop a case against Anggodo Widjojo, the alleged actor behind the plot.

"We summoned Ari Muladi again today, along with several other people to be questioned on Anggodo's case, which has been handed over by the police to the Corruption Eradication Commission *KPK*," KPK spokesman Johan Budi told reporters Monday.

Previously National Police chief spokesman Insp. Gen. Nanan Sukarna said Anggodo could be accused of committing at least six crimes, including defamation, extortion, attempted bribery, and threatening and insulting public officials and institutions.

The KPK will only handle those related to corruption.

Johan said the KPK would also review a report filed by a team of lawyers accusing Anggodo of allegedly obstructing the investigation of a corruption case.

Anggodo claimed to have given Rp 5.1 billion supplied by his older brother, fugitive graft suspect Anggoro Widjojo, to two suspended KPK deputies Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah through Ari in a bid to have the KPK halt its investigation against Anggoro's PT Masaro Radiokom.

According to the wiretapped conversations played at the Constitutional Court, Anggodo and lawyer Bonaran Situmeang played a central role in the attempt to bribe KPK leaders and incriminate the two suspended KPK deputies.

Johan said the KPK would probably summon Anggodo this week.

Separately, Ari's lawyer Sugeng Teguh Santoso said the KPK summoned Ari in relation to the obstruction of an investigation against Anggodo.

"Last week he was summoned as a witness on the alleged bribery of the KPK leaders," he said.

Sugeng said he wanted Anggodo to be charged with obstructing the investigation process so that all officers at the National Police and the Attorney General's Office (AGO) allegedly involved in the process would be held responsible.

He said Anggodo was the one who told Ari to make the testimony he made on July 15, saying "It was Anggodo who made up the chronology of the money transfer *from Ari to the KPK officials*."

Ari later withdrew his testimony.

During Monday's questioning session, Sugeng said that Ari was asked 29 questions including how he met Anggodo, and how Anggodo told him to help him settle Anggoro's case with the KPK. He said KPK would summon Ari again Tuesday at 9 a.m.
