PPTAK denies leaking data on Century bailout scandal

The Financial Transaction Report Analysis Center (PPATK) said Tuesday it had never leaked data on the flow of funds from the Bank Century bailout to certain parties.

PPATK deputy chairman Bambang Permantoro said the center’s data was always kept secret, as mandated by the law on money laundering.

“We never had such data and never gave it to anyone,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

Bambang was responding to information circulating on blogs, emails, text messages and other media about the Bank Century bailout funds.

The data, which has also been released by a non-government organization Bendera, states that the campaign team of President Yudhoyono received billions of rupiah from the bailout fund, which it used for the 2009 election.
