Yudhoyono campaign team denies accepting Bank Century funds

The campaign team of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono denied Tuesday that it had accepted Bank Century bail out funds for the 2009 election.

A non-governmental organization, the People Democracy Defense (Bendera), has claimed that former heads of Yudhoyono's campaign team, Hatta Rajasa, Andi Mallarangeng, Rizal Mallarangeng, Choel Mallarangeng, Djoko Suyanto, and Edhi Baskoro Yudhoyono received billions of rupiah from the bail out fund.

"The accusation is a lie and a defamation," Hatta, who is now the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, said as quoted by Kompas.com when reporting Bendera's accusation to police.

Hatta's report was immediately followed up by the police.
