Businesswoman Hartati Murdaya reported activists from the People's Democracy Fortress (Bendera) to the City Police Wednesday for alleged defamation after they linked her with Bank Century scandal.

Hartati said she had reported activists Mustar Bona Ventura and Ferdi Simaun for allegedly citing her name as a receiver of the bailout funds the government paid out to help the ailing bank.

“I came here to report the alleged defamation which said I received Rp 100 billion [US$1 million] from the bank,” she said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

She said she had never received the money.

“I did not even know there was such a bank called Century. So, how could I have had such a big amount of money in it?” she said.

Previously, Mustar and Ferdi listed her and other prominent figures, including President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's son Edhie “Ibas” Baskoro, as having personally benefitted from a total of Rp 1.8 trillion allocated to keep the troubled bank afloat.

Yesterday, Ibas along with Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Radjasa, Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto and State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Andi Malarangeng filed reports with the police over the same case. (ewd)
